Okudo gray tomae #1121
An elegant medium gray tomae with a foggy or cloudy pattern seen
also in the Nakayama stones. The back shows a rich Okudo kawa skin
that is a burnt umber color. Gray stones are often very hard, this is just
a medium hard stone in the middle 5 hardness range. It is velvet
smooth and will hone a straight razor to the up-most keenness. There
is one ancient inclusion that runs across the stone at an angle and can
most easily be seen when the stone begins to dry out. This inclusion is
solid, cannot be felt with a fingernail and does not affect a razor in any
way. The price does reflect this issue.
One side of this stone have been sanded. The stone (toishi) has been
lapped perfectly flat and the corners and edges beveled unless
otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a money back guarantee
minus the return shipping. This stone will come with a tested
tomonagura slurry stone.
