Shobudani (wannabe) karasu tomae #131
This very interesting stone has some wide radius kan or tree ring patterns in faint yellows
and some splashes of what wants to look like as karasu patterns. Most likely the stone
will just develop and continue to look just as it is not. A good but not terribly hard stone for
razors it is very fine and even from front to back. The back does display a dramatic
Shobudani kawa with deep ruts of ochers, umbers and burnt umber colors.
There is one corner surface on the top that is not lapped flat, in the photos seen as the
lower right. It will lap out with use, I did not want to sacrifice the stone in lapping in order
to go below that portion. The rest of the top is fully lapped and perfectly flat.
Shave tested, this is a Grade A razor hone.
All of my stones come with a tested tomonagura slurry stone.
The toishi has been lapped perfectly flat, the sides dressed and the corners and edges
beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a money back guarantee
minus the return shipping.
