Narutaki iro tomae #557
A user friendly knife or tool stone this tomae is from a shallower layer, probably the
Hachimai or maybe even the Tenjyo strata. This stone s filled with millions of the
smallest goma black specks I have ever seen, including goma in the namazu yellow
blotched area. These so not affect sharpening in any way but only make the stone look
more interesting. There is a meridian line that runs around the sides and the ends
that is filled with solid and lighter colored minerals, it is not a crack but just a thin
sediment layer. The general color tone of the stone is yellow but this is not the classic
harder yellow tomae called kiita. This nick on the back of the stone is geology related
and not from a bump or accident.
A slightly softer but really fast cutting stone it is perfect for knives, chisels or plane blade.
It will sharpen all types of knife steel including western stainless steel.
The stone (toishi) has been lapped perfectly flat and the corners and edges beveled
unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a money back guarantee minus the
