#591 Hard crisp Oozuku gray tomae
The Oozuku mine was located just up valley from
the Nakayama mine and was operated up until the last
quarter of the 20th century as a depot for the stone
that had been harvested in the previous hundreds of years.
This particular stone along with many others I have were
wholesaled in the 1950s to the father of one of my suppliers.
A very good stone with one corner that has not been finished
as it lays a bit lower than the rest of the top surface, and it has
an undercut corner that is just opposite of the previously mentioned.
These factors lead to a price bargain for an otherwise top
The stone (toishi) has been lapped flat and the
corners and edges beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my
stones come with a tested and appropriately sized tomo naguara
slurry stone, and a money back guarantee minus the return shipping.
