Okudo mottled tomae #619
This Okudo mined stone has a mottled or foggy pattern that blends from greens to
blues. The grit is very consistant from side to side and back to back, it is just the
clay content that makes the pattern and color change.
In the photos of the top side of the stone you can see that the lower left corner or
the blue end the surface is not perfectly lapped. This unlapped corner surface is
about 4cm x 0.5cm wide along the edge. And across the way along the other edge
you can see some bias layering revealing itself in a semi-circular pattern. I do not
think that either of these issues will affect the honing of a razor but the price does
reflect these issues.
This is a level 5+++ hardness stone that is perfectly smooth but still fast cutting if
you have a light slurry, or with clear water excellent for polishing a blade.
Recommended for razors.
The stone (toishi) has been lapped perfectly flat and the corners and edges
beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a money back
guarantee minus the return shipping. This stone will be shipped with a tested
tomonagura slurry stone.
