#653 Okudo asagi tomae razor hone
Okudo mine was next door to the Nakayama mine and they share
some of the same aspects including a cloudy or foggy pattern to
the grain of the stone. This stone has that cloudy pattern and with a
mellow light green asagi coloration.
These hardness level 5+ asagi
stones are the easiest to use and if you incorporate a slurry made
with a mellow or #1200 fine diamond plate I have found with this
stone and others that you can take a 1k set bevel to shave ready
stage in just a few minutes. The kawa skin on the back has a patent
leather look with shades of umbers. Take note that the back is not
perfectly flat in the middle area so it will not sit flat on a counter
top unless lapped. It will snuggle nicely into a stone holder.
The modest price reflects this flatness issue and the fact that
the stone has a missing corner.
The stone (toishi) has been lapped perfectly flat and the corners
and edges beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come
with a tested and appropriately sized tomonaguara slurry stone,
and a money back guarantee minus the return shipping.
