Okudo asagi tomae #704
Smaller koppa size for razor honing, there is nothing wrong with
this stone except that the green asagi coloration is shallow and with
use the stone will become more of a gray color. The gray component
is the same grit quality, just the clay binders have alternate an mineral
content that creates a different hue. You can see this in the photos
of the side of the stone.
This is a razor quality Okudo stone, I have tested this stone with a
razor and a research microscope. The low price is mainly a reflection
of the size along with the general condition and or any slight flaws
mentioned regarding the stone. The most noticeable flaw in this
stone is near the center on the top, there is an area in the surface
where the grain of the stone is disturbed and the surface might provide
some flaking that could scratch your razor. This circular area also
might lap out nicely and it might not flake with larger particles.
All of my stones come with a tested tomonagura slurry stone.
The toishi has been lapped perfectly flat, the sides dressed and
the corners and edges beveled unless otherwise noted.
