#743 Okudo hard gray tomae
A perfect razor hone. Full of grit, super fine, excellent confirmation
including all corners, edges and kawa back. With a cloudy or foggy
pattern similar to those from the Nakayama mine this stone is in it's
own simple way very elegant.
When you pick up and handle this stone your first thought will be that
it is too fine to use but, when you raise a slurry with the accompanying
tomonagura or made with a diamond plate you will feel the stone spring
into action as I did. After finishing on clear water from a diluted slurry
stage, with care and stropping I created a super sharp HHT-5 level edge
that resulted with smooth and comfortable against the grain passes.
The stone (toishi) has been lapped perfectly flat and the corners and
edges beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a tested
and appropriately sized tomonaguara slurry stone, and a money back
guarantee minus the return shipping.
