Narutaki tomae #157
This medium hard asagi tennen toishi has a light gray/green color with a few small spots
of lighter color namazu made up of a softer alternate mineral and one small darker piece
of namazu that is also softer and will not affect that sharpening or the blades edge in any
way. The namazu areas are small and can be seen on the side of the stone to, so they
will follow your lapping of the stone down and to the side or angled away from the top
surface. The back kawa skin shows a full surface made up of umber, burnt umber and
areas of jet black which have only a slight twinkle but is very similar to the noted distinct
bolder twinkle found in the kawa of Nakayama stones.
One of my stone wholesalers told me that he made up this stone and several others as
scalpel hones for doctors, thus the 205mm long by 33mm wide but narrow shape. It is
very fine and will hone up a razor as a final finishing stone and will with clear running
water polish up a razor to a bright finish.
The toishi has been lapped perfectly flat, the sides dressed and the corners and edges
beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a money back guarantee
minus the shipping.
